     The State Auditor in Montana is the Securities Commissioner and the Insurance Commissioner.  This web site has much information about Securities and         Insurance.  It is also a site to go to if you are having problems with a broker or brokerage account or an insurance product.  

Montana Citizen’s Advocate

    The Montana Citizens’ Advocate is directly charged by the Governor with assisting Montanans in their interactions with state executive branch agencies.        Folks often need a little help navigating the rules, requirements, statutes or roles of state government. The Citizens’ Advocate, true to its name, advocates      on behalf of Montanans and offers direction and assistance within state government.

     The MT Board of Crime Control coordinates grants which pass thru the state.  Many are available for people who are involved in crime prevention.

       Once again, the Montana Board of Crime Control is a coordinator for Training and Technical assistance grants.  This is a good site to go to to see what             may be available.

          The Federal Trade Commission has an extremely up to date web site that relates to Identity Theft.  They also have a program called Consumer Sentinal            that law enforcement agencies can subscribe to to get more specific information on Identity Theft in Montana.

AARP Fraud Watch Network

            AARP is a national organization that deals with issues that relate to people 50 and over.  The Fraud Watch Network is a subscription based (free)                      program that on a regular basis emails people information about new and updated scams that are making the rounds in the United States today.  

Billings Chapter on the Prevention of Elder Abuse

               This is a product of Big Sky Senior Services in Billings, MT.  It was the first such chapter in the nation and has great information on Elder Abuse and                 especially Financial Exploitation in Billings and greater Montana.
